In an apparent quest to make everyone feel old, Miami has extended a scholarship offer to a recruit in the high school graduating class of 2022.

The story is much the same as one told two years ago.

Eighth-grader Jake Johnson, who lists his size at more than 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, plays quarterback and wide receiver at Athens, Ga. private school Prince Avenue Christian.

Mark Richt offered his brother, Max, in Feb. 2016.

Max and Jake are Richt’s nephews. Their parents are former NFL quarterback Brad Johnson, a Florida State alum, and the former Nikki Richt, who played volleyball at FSU. She is Mark Richt’s sister.

The youngest Johnson’s highlight tape includes his playing quarterback, splitting out wide and rushing out of direct snaps. As an eighth-grader, he’s clearly a physical mismatch for his opponents.

Max, a 2020 quarterback prospect, is listed at 6-4 and 191 pounds and rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports. He plays at Oconee County (Ga.) High. Here’s a link to his sophomore year highlights.

Miami does not have a quarterback commit for 2020, but has several high-quality players committed: five-star receiver Leonard Manuel and athlete Avantae Williams; two four-star defensive ends, Tre’Von Riggins and Samuel Anaele; four-star receiver Jermaine Burton and as-of-now-unrated athlete Marc Britt.
