Recruiting: DL Trevon Riggins commits to Miami Hurricanes

Since its recent rise as a prep football powerhouse, IMG Academy in Bradenton has been good to Miami.

The Hurricanes added another IMG product to its future reserves Wednesday, when Class of 2020 defensive lineman Trevon Riggins announced his commitment.

According to 247Sports, Riggins — who played at Lakewood High before transferring to IMG — is a four-star recruit (65th overall) and the fourth-best strong-side defensive end in his class. He is not rated by Rivals or ESPN. He is listed at 6-foot-4 and 260 pounds.

He participated in the Under Armour Future 50 event at that company’s All-America game in Orlando last week and told Diehards a commitment to UM could be coming soon (or later).

UM’s 2020 class, rated No. 1 nationally at this early juncture, also includes five-star wideout Leonard Manuel (second-best at his position, sixth overall) and two of Riggins’ highly rated teammates: five-star athlete Avantae Williams (13th overall, top-rated among players considered “athletes) and four-star receiver Jermaine Burton (101st overall, 22nd at his position). Hialeah-Champagnat athlete Marc Britt, who is unrated, has also committed.

The Hurricanes signed four-star IMG receiver Brian Hightower in the 2018 class and three players in 2015: four-star offensive tackle Tyree St. Louis, defensive end Scott Patchan and three-star defensive tackle Ryan Fines. UM has also welcomed numerous walk-ons from the school.
